What this page is

This page describes how BuyIQ handles information in the current private preview, based on how the application actually works today.

It is a product draft pending Founder and legal review. It is not a claim of full legal compliance or certification.

What BuyIQ does not ask for

BuyIQ does not require an account to run research.

The app does not collect your name, email address, or phone number to generate a recommendation.

Information BuyIQ receives

Research question text you submit (required to run and restore a recommendation).

A research session slug used as a capability URL so you can return to results. Anyone with that link can view that session.

Request identifiers used for rate limiting, debugging, and operational logs.

When you use a merchant handoff (“Check current price on Amazon”), BuyIQ may record a click event with product identifier, source surface (for example recommendation, alternative, comparison, or product page), optional session slug, and a timestamp. BuyIQ does not persistently store the complete raw browser User-Agent string for new click events.

Your IP address may be used briefly for rate limiting. BuyIQ application code does not use first-party cookies for analytics or authentication in the current V1 preview.

Browser storage

BuyIQ may store a short-lived analytics session identifier in browser sessionStorage for client-side telemetry. That identifier is not a login, and durable client analytics storage is not enabled in this preview.

BuyIQ does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party marketing trackers in the BuyIQ application path.

Where information may be processed

Depending on configuration, BuyIQ may use infrastructure and AI providers to host the app, store sessions, generate research outputs, enforce rate limits, or report errors. Exact provider behaviour and their retention practices require separate verification outside this product draft.

When you continue to Amazon, checkout happens on Amazon. BuyIQ redirects you to a validated merchant destination; Amazon may receive normal browser navigation information as with any external website visit.

Retention

Research sessions (including the question text and session slug) are retained under a 30-day V1 policy. Records older than 30 days are eligible for deletion through BuyIQ’s retention cleanup capability.

Merchant handoff click records are retained under a 90-day V1 policy and are likewise eligible for bounded cleanup after that window.

Automatic Production cleanup activation remains separately authorized; the application implements enforceable, testable deletion capability aligned to these windows.

Operational host logs and optional error-reporting providers follow their own retention practices, which require separate verification outside this product draft.

Recommendations and commercial data

Affiliate configuration, commission eligibility, and click analytics do not change organic recommendation ranking. Commercial data is used for merchant handoff and measurement, not to decide which product is the best fit.
